David C Anderson qualified in medicine at St Andrews University in Scotland. He has been Professor of Endocrinology, and Honorary Visiting Professor of Medicine at the University of Manchester; and Professor of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He now lives in retirement in Umbria, Italy.

In addition to papers on a wide range of medical subjects he has published an extensive medical teaching film series. He and his doctor wife Jenny have always been avid collectors of art.
